The Cinema of Machines,
explored both the history of cinema and the artist's own history. Farrer built a series of mechanical devices which playfully deconstructed the event of visiting the cinema, presenting an environment that referred to the cinema's fairground origins.
These hybrid machines - both filming and projection - were sculptural projects in their own right, and also explored the tactile qualities of photo chemistry, light and mechanisms.
